Elyctis expands globally with the opening of its subsidiary in Senegal and appoints Aminou Garba as Managing Director
As the e-ID document reader market is thriving and, to be always closer to its customers, Elyctis is happy to announce that, after Hong Kong and India, it is now opening its Elyctis Africa subsidiary in Senegal, in charge of covering the booming African e-ID market.
PERTUIS, FRANCE, March 22, 2023 – The African market is becoming a hotbed of identity expansion and innovation. In order to sustain this growth in the long run with a permanent presence on the field, Elyctis is happy to announce the opening of its African subsidiary, Elyctis Africa, to provide always better services to African customers.
ECOWAS countries (Benin, Burkina Faso, Cabo Verde, Cote d’Ivoire, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, and Togo) have adopted a common standard for national e-ID cards, based on the ICAO specification, that guarantees interoperability between countries. For instance, Senegal and Cote d’Ivoire have a high penetration rate of these e-ID cards, allowing the development of always more citizen services. Elyctis is already supplying ID BOX One readers for the Universal Healthcare Coverage run by the ANACMU – l’Agence Nationale de la Couverture Maladie Universelle du Sénégal – the national agency in charge of the national healthcare system in Senegal.
As biometric ePassports are widely distributed and the penetration of e-ID cards is increasing in ECOWAS countries as well as in other areas such as Kenya and Uganda, Elyctis is happy to provide more readers to support citizen services in several countries in Africa, for the management of pensioners and exam candidates, for authentication of notaries, for secure access control, etc. Needs are also steadily developing all over the continent for KYC (Know Your Customer) enrolment for banking and telecom services. Border control is increasingly relying on electronic modern e-ID documents (e-ID cards and ePassports), thus requiring Elyctis half page scanners. Elections require an efficient citizen authentication, performed with Elyctis e-ID document readers.
Elyctis Africa, based in Dakar, Senegal, is managed by Aminou Garba, who brings his longstanding experience in multinational high-tech environments, as he has been involved in numerous projects in finance, digitization and IT on four continents. He will not only be in charge of direct sales and management but also of developing a network of partners and distributors on the continent. Elyctis Africa will bring a combination of services to customers all over the region. It will provide proximity services including sales, customer service, technical support and maintenance, as it will keep an inventory of Elyctis e-ID readers. The subsidiary already has development plans to deliver more services to local markets, thanks to hiring more African staff, in order to become a significant economic player in Senegal.
Headquartered in Pertuis, France, Elyctis already has a strong international presence, with offices in Hong Kong and India. In addition, Elyctis has already an extensive international coverage with e-ID reader references worldwide.
Alexandre Joly, CEO of Elyctis, declares: « We already knew the e-ID document reader market in Africa was expanding and, when we met Aminou Garba, we had no doubt he was the best person for the job. We are confident that, with him and future staff of Elyctis Africa, the continent will represent an increasing part of our activities. »
Aminou Garba, General Manager of Elyctis Africa, adds: « I am happy to become part of Elyctis, to sustain the global development of the company and to be in charge of developing the African market, in order to provide always more services to citizens, governments and enterprises. »
